New GPU Recommendations for 4690K

Sober2ndThought

I currently have ASUS 750 Ti i massively cheeped out on when I build my initial computer. I have a 4690K and I have been waiting until Pascal and Polaris to be launched.

Which one of the following would you recommend to pair with my 4690K:

Nvida 1060

Nvida 1070

AMD RX480

I want an open air cooler, with minimum of 3 Display Ports. I am only planning on gaming with a dual 1080p monitors, right now I have 60 hz, but i have plans to buy a 144 hz monitor.I will probably add a triple one more when I have the desk space. Any suggestions? My budget is approximately 500 dollars, but I am still looking for the best performance per dollar.

1070 would be the best then 1060. don't need to consider 480 much unless you go for 1060 63gb

144Hz monitor ... well there is only 1 option in this case: GTX 1070.

What if i stick with the 60hz i have now?

In this case I would get GTX 1060.

RX480 can handle 1080p at 60fps, but I would rather buy GTX 1060 3GB than having RX 480 card.

But that's just my opinion.

Just to be clear I will be getting the 6gb card if I'll get a 1060.

GTX 1060 6GB version is better than RX 480.

And that card will be a beast for 1080p gaming at 60fps all ultra setiings.

If 500$ Canadian is your upper limit, then the 1070 is out of your budget.

1070 start at 530$ minimum. Add taxes and you're around 600$. I would suggest you a 1060 6Gb over an Rx 480 but to be honest that's pretty much personal preference cause both cards are almost neck and neck.

I am thinking about getting this one:

Feels over priced though considering

Well GTX 1070 is 40% faster than GTX 1060 6GB version.

1060 6GB version is around 30-40% cheaper.

It might be just s tiny bit overpriced, but that's how it is.

If you can increase your budget to 550$ for that GTX 1070, you will be getting yourself badass GPU for 1440p ultra settings.

About taxes that @Tyl3n0L mentioned ... no idea what's with taxes in your country.

I might consider upping my budget I mean after all its only a $100 difference. I am also splitting my time between Alberta and B.C. so bare in mind I only pay a 5 percent sales tax in Alberta and Albertans don't pay sales tax in Washington.

My biggest question atm is which card should I get as well, like which brand. I was planning on getting the EVGA Card but a friend of mine sent me an article showing they routinely catch fire, so I am not sure.
