The HyperX Savage 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 2133 HX421C13SB/8 I wanted is at around the same price but currently out of stock. Maybe people are buying up RAM in preparation for Zen although I'd think a better move would be to pick RAM after one's selected a specific motherboard.

Nope, that's predicted months ago and now reality.

The big buys turned down their production and if the latest news is correct, the demand is higher than predicted so as we all know, when the demand goes up and the supplies go down, the prices go up.

Note resourse wise world wide everythong is rising. So few bucks on ram which is cheap no wonder...

Not everything is increasing in price, and will increase in price. Look up "Deflation"

The trend for ram though is that is has been lowering for years, but has started to increase slighlty.

What I wanted to say is ram is alreay dirt cheap most of time single stick 8 gb ddr4 go for like 25 to 50 $ which is enought for most people. And while I do have 16 gb in my pc it is just future proof investment for me not to go back on small issues.
