Why is the new DOOM so buggy?

spiralfuzion

I can't record it well with any software other than my elgato hd 60. I can't benchmark it and it won't work with any other outside application. I can only record it poorly with open gl enabled using an rx480 xfx black edition. The game file is also huge and I'm assuming it's because of the huge maps.

Because most recording and benchmarking applications don't work with Vulkan yet.

Yes, I've found that DXTory works with the new API's.

Much better than Fraps. There is an update about every month. It does cost money however. If you don't pay, you have to wait 10 seconds to use it.

fraps in my use is terrible and has huge file sizes. I'm not sure what type of compression is involved because the quality to me is still funky.

I haven't used it for recording, so I can't attest to that, it does however work with benchmarking.

I can't seem to find an option to save framerates to a file. It will show you the framerate in real time though.

is there really no DX11 mode on DOOM? If your GPU can handle it, just switch to DX11

Only OpenGL and Vulkan. It's a universally compatible game.

Fraps does not compress its footage.

Have you tried OBS and recorded using Windowed mode? It might be a bit wonky but surely it'd get the job done?

For some reason it won't work or when it does work it's inconsistent.
