Help me determine the money I should spend on a new system

Hey Guys.

I want to build my first PC but after looking at some benchmarks I realized that I can get good frame rates (1080p) with low end parts in many titles. So now I don't know how much money I should spend on my PC.

1. So the first question I asked myself was: What do I want to do with my PC?

I want to play games(1080p/60fps). I can't really play any demanding games on my current PC but these are the games I'm interested in:

     -Heros of the Strom

     -Overwatch

     -Portal 2

     -Rocket League

     -maybe Starcraft 2

I want to do some school stuff like coding.

The PC should be able to handle these tasks for some time, I don't want to upgrade it like every year.

2. My thoughts about the components:

I want a 1TB HDD and I'll use the 250GB SSD i already have. 8GB of RAM seems enough for me and I will probably get a 500-600W PSU (probably the Seasonic M12II-520 EVO, I heared this is a good PSU). I don't want to spend more then 70€ on the case. A quad core CPU and a GPU with enough memory so I won't see any bottlenecks in the near future would be nice as well. The motherboard should be an ATX board and I don't want to use the stock cooler.

3. Now there are some possibilities:

-I could get the cheapest system that can handle these tasks but then I have to upgrade it very soon.

-I could get the most expensiv system I can afford.

-I could get a sweet spot system.

What would you do?

Feel free to show me some PC partpicker lists.

EDIT: The budget doesn't include any peripherals/monitor/operationg system. I'm from europe and everything I purchase will be paid with euro.

If you want to use "low end parts" don't use low end power supplies or low end motherboards, they are both components that you should spend 60-70$ on a model from a reputable brand

APU: AMD A10-7850K cooled by an NH-L12; PSU(going to upgrade sooner or later):  Antec VP450P;RAM: 2x4GB HyperX Savage 2133MHz; MOBO: Asus A68HM-Plus; CASE: Itek [something] ; HDD: WD Blue 1TB(WD10EZEX)

OS: Triple boot openSUSE Leap Debian Jessie and Windows 10(aka MSX)

Well hurry up with your edit then so I can answer. :P

Anyway, I might answer already and edit later where needed, I don't think you need a crazy expensive system to enjoy 1080p gaming. Of course this depends on what you wish to play and with how quality sacrifice you can live with. (I can't hence why my system is so overkill...O.o)

You could go with an Intel i3 6100, 4-8 GiB of RAM and something like an AMD RX460, RX480 if you got money left, this will be a very notable bump in performance.

Expect to spend roughly 600-750 bucks for just the system.

Main rig: Intel i7 6700K @ 4 Ghz with Silverstone Argon AR06 + Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM, Asus Z170I Pro Gaming, 2 x 8 GiB Corsair LPX Red @ 2.133 Mhz, MSI GTX 1080 Founders Edition, 2 x Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB, Corsair SF600, Silverstone Raven RVZ02 (no window version).

For on the road: MSI GE72 2QC Apache with 16 GiB RAM upgrade.

If he doesn't have budget costraints at 1080p an i5-6400 and an RX 470 that will cost less than 1000$ including monitor, keyboard and mouse would be much better value for money

i would say spend as much as you can and at least get youre self a dx12 supported graphics card (sit tight a few more weeks for the cheaper 1050 and 1050ti) then at least your ass if covered for future releases.

I lurk a lot

Ok i'm gonna assume you live in the US since you haven't specified anything and that you don't need any pheriphals. I just threw this together and i think it's gonna be good so you have something to work out from. I don't really know what's the best options in the US, but it's something. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/zgPrM8

Is it even worth it to get such a cheap system because I probably have to upgrade this one soon or is it smarter to get a better one that will last me longer.

And tbh I would like to have a quad core CPU and a GPU with a good amount of memory so there won't be bottlenecks due to the lack of memory.

Jeez, everything is so expensive in Europe in terms of electronics. I'm sorry about that, but here's what I got http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/J4vJnn. I just assumed you're German, but that's likely poor judgement. Make sure to get the operating system on https://www.kinguin.net/de/category/22175/windows-10-home-oem-key/. Again, I assumed you are German, but you can change the country and therefore currency and price based on where you live. I hoped this helps...

You're right, im from germany. The prices in germany aren't that bad if you compare it to other european countries as far as I know but they are still bad compared to the US.

Many people recommended me an i5 6500 and a RX 470. Is it worht getting a GTX 1060 6GB instead of the RX 470? Some GP107 GPUs will release soon too.

And no one suggested the i5 6600K here. Some people already suggested me to get this one. I don't know if the upgrade is worth it and personally I don't think so. But an overclockable CPU can be sold for more money then a non overclockable one on the other hand.

I'll probably buy a CPU cooler as well since I don't want to use the stock cooler. (Maybe something like the Hyper 212)

Well based on that, here's your new build xD: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/BVKrM8. It's way more pricey. You likely will want to wait for something like the GTX 1050 4GB. I got you the more expensive motherboard for the 6600k's overclocking ability. This build is likely not what you'll want to end up getting, though.

I don't know how much money I want to spend. I want to get a PC the can handle 1080p 60Hz gaming and that will last me for some time. I don't want to spend money on hardware I don't need but on the other hand I don't want to get a system that I have to upgrade like a year after because it's not powerful enough.

So here's the deal. I've heard that overclocking can potentially shorten the life of a component. So here's this build that you cannot overclock. I threw in a CPU cooler to also extend the life of the PC over the stock cooler. Additionally, I threw in a pair of corsair case fans just in case you want more cooling than what's given in the case, but you can remove that if you wish, though I would suggest getting a little more cooling in the future. Here is a system that'll last you a long time if everything goes right: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/PWx3wV
