Hey Guys,

I recently got a new monitor, an LG 27UD68 to be exact, and am slowly adjusting to 4K.

One of the question I've got is, If I've got scaling applied to Windows am I seeing the 4K content correctly?

I've got 150% scaling on, Its what Windows 10 suggested so I've left it so far.

This means my resolution is effectively 2560x1440.

If I'm watching a YouTube video and full screen the video and check "the stats for nerds" I'm getting dimension of 2560x1440, even when viewing 4K content.

When I dropped out and set scaling to 100% rather than 150%, the reported dimension was now 4K.

Am I missing something here, or am I just seeing the 4K content at sub 4K resolutions?

And as such I'm basically losing out on being able to view this content  at native resolution?

If this is the case, how do I get around it? In games, I can obviously just set it to 4K resolution and I'm done, but for other things I'm less sure.

I wouldn't want every site at 4K, but I figured when I went fullscreen in videos it would catch on.

Cheers!

I really wouldn't worry about 4k youtube videos, it's really not close to true 4k after the compression to send it over the internet

Here's some random sample footage you can check out

And here's me using a 24 inch 1440p monitor wanting chrome to be able to scale at 95%...(with my 1080p monitor at 85%~ as 75 is too small and 90 is just a tad to big :P)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Jup, there is more to going 4k screen alone in that choice. Instead with scale all, you can try to adjust seperate settings for fonts and pictograms in windows. For browser you can also use addons that allow only text size changes.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

The Windows scaling does affect Youtube videos unfortunately, if you leave scaling at 150% then what you'll be seeing is a max of 2560×1440 upscaled to 4K, not "true" 4K video.
