Unknown Search Box in Chrome.

Whenever I search on chrome, this unknown additional search box appears. After that whatever I type, it goes directly to this box rather than the original search box.

Searching on this takes to something like "play.com" which later redirects to yahoo search.

 

Help me to get rid of this. I have tried everything from clearing adware to reinstalling chrome.

Nothing worked as of yet.

Do you have an anti virus? Some anti virus install "safe search" toolbars automatically

What does the "X" on the right side do?

Yes I am using AVG free antivirus.

However I cannot find any option inside it to disable that.

Are you sure AVG is causing this issue?

Na nothing of that sort. Just for privacy reasons.

Moreover this box appears frequently. I could have searched anything of my choice and posted hehe.

 

"X" closes it but only temporarily.

Check your extensions. There's a page on Google Chrome but I can't remember the URL
