Low performace 980ti in witcher 3

nvm I am incredibly stupid and read the wrong graph

Hey forum,

I am getting frame rates around 65 fps on ultra setting in the Witcher 3 on a 1080p monitor. My pc specs are in my signature. I see benchmarks from other websites where the 980ti can push above 120fps. Is the AMD FX 8350 I am using really causing a 60 frame bottleneck, or is there possibly something else affecting frame rate? The 980ti is also overclocked and runs stable around 1400mhz. The 8350 runs at stock speeds,.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

What are your AA/MSAA settings? but yes your 8350 is holding you back.

Yes.

Oc'ing or replacing the cpu for a faster one will help.

setting witcher 3 in the task manager to high priority fixed some of the issues I had with the game.

Are you using HairWorks? 65-70 FPS is what I generally get with my GTX 1070 (which is similar in performance) with HairWorks on and turned up. In the benchmarks you see online, HairWorks is normally turned off to keep it fair between Nvidia and AMD hardware (and to prevent their comment sections from exploding).

An FX-8350 can probably affect your performance negatively in The Witcher 3, but I'd expect it to only be really noticeable in cities and certain other particularly CPU-heavy areas. If you're seeing 65+, I'd believe that to be GPU bound performance.
