My laptop has a QUAD CORE? Is it SUPPOSED TO?

Yeah I know, but I have only really seen them in high end laptops. My laptop is NOT what you would call "high end"

There were actually several quad core SKUs in Intel's Second Generation Core i7 Mobile Processor linup. Here is a link to the page on Intel's ARK that lists all of them: http://ark.intel.com/products/family/59136/2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors#@Mobile

Yours is on the lower end, with a max Turbo of 2.9 GHz.

 

By the way, it's nice to see another Sandy Bridge still running out there. I'm still using my SNB i7 2760QM.

My M6500 has a total tdp of 105w. CPU is 55w and GPU is 50w. Specs in sig.

Also "Windows" doesn't make laptops it an OS, you can buy chromebooks which don't have windows, or they even sell laptops with Linux.

Where their limited different hardware used means they can optimise them "enough" and since it's based on Unix, compared to a same spec window's based machine, they are usually a bit faster

I've taken apart some of those dell workatations before. Damn, son.

 

I ran aidai64 on my laptop after putting in an even faster cpu, and it didnt thermally throttle!

The HQ/QM/TE CPUs are quad cores:

Only the U series has 2 cores.

(This applies ONLY to mobile i7s)

The Q stands for Quad, so yeah there are mobile quad core i7s. With HT you get 8 threads. There also mobile quad core i5, not that dual core with HT nonsense. A real quad core, it also has letter Q on it.

I could have my laptop sitting on a blanket and it won't thermal throttle. It runs so cool. What laptop do you have?\

HK is quad and unlocked

Its actually a different model to the one in the post. Its similar though.
