Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 Clock Speed?

barkloaf

So, I need to put a new GPU in my system. I have integrated graphics, which, although it is Iris Pro 6200, I am planning to start doing things with VR down the line.

I'm really on the fence, however, about choosing between Team Red or Team Green. I would either go for the RX 480 or the GTX 1060. I have been told that the 1060 is more powerful than the 480, but I'm not sure if I need that performance, and I am fine for sacrificing that for--spoilers for the next paragraph--an extra HDMI port and I'm willing to pay $10 more for the 480 I found.

So I look on Amazon, looking at the 1060 and 480, then I realized that I don't have anything that uses DisplayPort, and all the 1060 manufactures only have 1 HDMI (No, I am not going to get a new monitor that uses DisplayPort, not happening, however I am getting a second monitor that uses DVI, perfect for the DVI port on these cards). Then I remembered that Sapphire makes cards with 2 DisplayPorts, 2 HDMI ports, and 1 DVI port. One HDMI for my main monitor, the DVI for my second monitor, and the other HDMI for a VR headset. I find their 480, no reviews, and the specifications DON'T SHOW THE GPU CLOCK SPEED. WHAT THE HELL! So I am making this to ask if anyone knows the clock speed of the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480.

Here is their Amazon page for it: https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-NITRO-GDDR5-11256-01-20G/dp/B01J1M4HA6/ref=sr_1_10?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473688509&sr=1-10&keywords=rx+480&refinements=p_89%3ASapphire+Technology

Wasn't it 1320 or am I mistaken? Anyhow, just OC the thing. Performance between the 480 and 1060 varies from game to game and from API to API

Ok, well, other than that, are there manufacturers that make the GTX 1060 with 2 HDMI, 2 DP, and 1 DVI like Sapphire?

Alrighty, well, looks like I've got a new choice: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-Dual-Fan-Graphics-DUAL-GTX1060-O3G/dp/B01KMVHB6M/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473690402&sr=1-6&keywords=gtx+1060+2+hdmi

1060 that's more powerful than the 480 for an amazing price, 2 HDMI ports. Also black and white which goes perfectly with my MSI Krait Edition motherboard.

ACtually - that's the 3GB 1060. That is slower than a 480 as it has less CUDA cores than the 6GB one

I don't understand what the issue is. Any displayport connection can be converted to HDMI, but the reverse cannot be done:

Asus does that. But I don't think that matters since any DP connection can be converted to HDMI via a cheap adapter.

Does it really have less CUDA cores? How much slower would it be than the 480? By the way, this is the only 2 hdmi 1060 that is actually reasonably priced.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, I don't really know if I want to do that, as I would use it on my main monitor.

These are digital connections and won't suffer signal loss due to adapters like VGA(analog).

So what I'm getting from this is I should get an 6GB RX 480 with 3 DP, 1 HDMI, 1 DVI, and use adapters?

You should choose the card and not worry about display connections. Get the card you like. If it doesn't have enough HDMI ports, get an adapter.

But a card you don't like will give you much more headaches than a simple adapter.

It has 10% less cores cores so it's around 5% slower than a 480 under DX11 and 15% slower under DX12
