1440p, 144Hz, IPS Monitors

So I was looking around for a 1440p, 144Hz, IPS monitor. I found a bunch, but i don't really know what makes them better or worse, all of them are 1440p 144Hz IPS, Some has G-sync, some has Freesync, but i don't really care about that stuff. Should I? I am using an Nvidia card, but i don't find G-sync being worth it, since those monitors are waaay more expensive. Is it then a good idea to buy a free-sync monitor for a Nvidia card? Cuz i can't find one with neither.

My qusetions is:

For you who use G-sync/Free-sync, Could you go back to not using it?

If you had to buy an 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor, which one would you choose and why?
Is there any other feature I shoud look in to when picking a monitor?

Freesync is software based, whereas Gsync has its own processor to manage manage the frames.  That is why Gsysnc is more expensive.  It basically costs nothing to add freesync to a monitor.  It just doesn't work with Nvidia cards.  I'm not sure if it is worth it but I've heard good things.  I'm running an old HP 1440p IPS display at 60hz.  Hopefully someone else will come along with more info.

Answers:

1) No. I will never buy a primary monitor without an Adaptive refresh rate technology. It makes a massive difference. Going back to gaming on normal monitors feels horrible, especially when you get frame drops.

2) I'd go for the ROG Swift PG278Q. It's really the best of them. The Acer XB270HU is a decent option for less money.

3) You have the specs you want, so that's about it. I'd consider the stand and mounting systems available. If you plan on using an aftermarket stand, you're probably going to want VESA compatibility.

1440p monitors in general, are rather expensive, and high-frequency ones make the price go up even more. better start saving dat emone

The Acer Predator XB271HUbmiprz is the cheapest one i could find, not sure if the price is different where you come from.

If you don't want to pay the extra premium for g-sync monitors and are willing to wait until you decide to get a new GPU to reap the benefits of freesync go with

If you think you really need it now get some g-sync monitor.

P.S. What GPU do you have? What CPU do you have?

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Pixio px277 is a great value monitor, you can get it for as low as $390. The freesync implementation isn't great, but I hear that the OSD is good and that the panel quality is on par with other gaming ips monitors (you just need to calibrate it). The only bad thing about it is the massive glossy bezel and the cheap korean stand, but getting a vesa mounted stand can fix those issues

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
