Wanting to know if i shot myself in the foot with this build or not

Well, the topic asks the questions so here's my build:

Motherboard : Asus M5A97 PLUS AM3+ AMD ATX motherboard
CPU : AMD FX-8370 vishera 8-core 4 GHz
RAM : G SKILL Ripjaws 16GBs of RAM
GPU : GTX ASUS 1070 Strix 8GB VRAM
Storage : 128GB SSD (for OS), 4TB HDD (for muh games)

Moniter : Asus VG248QE 24 inch 144 Hz 1ms response time

Case : (planned) roswell Thor V2
Power Supply : (planned) gold standard 750 watt
OS : (planned) windows 10 pro 64-bit
"planned" parts is basicly the stuff that i dont have yet

 

The part that has me feeling like i shot myself in the foot is my 1070 strix is a PCIe 3.0 x16 and my motherboard is only up to 2.0 and i might not get the performance i bargained for.

He could've gotten more performance with an i5-6500 in games.

Consider the cheaper Enthoo Pro case.

You kinda did cuz you bougt a am3+ mobo , the thing is if u wanna upgrade the cpu and wanna go intel you have to change mobo,cpu (obviously) , and memory cuz most lga boards are ddr4 now, besides your gou has pci e 3.0 while your board is 2.0 but you already now that

And then there's the upgrade path to the 7700k when it comes out.. out the window.
