Ultrawide or G-Sync

I want to get a new monitor but cant decide which one i want. My budget is $800 but i judt cant decide. I had my eyes on the lg 34uc88 for a while(I know its $1100 but i can get it for around $800) but i am kind of scared of screen tearing. I do game but to be honest not competetivly ill probably just play battelfield and fallout and a few other games. I also love the look of ultrawide monitors i think they look stunning but screen tesring really scares me(I have nightmares) So looked into the asus rog pg279q which is 144hz, 1440p and has g-sync for around $800 but not the same as ultrawide. Can someone please help me pick its been killing me. Also if you would like to recommend a different monitor feel free to do so i seriously need help. Thank you

GPU: Asus geforce gtx 1080

I have a G-Sync monitor and I can say once you have it you can never go back. So smooth to play on.

In my Eyes, Gsync is a musthave for a Gaming Monitor in this Price Range.

I went with G-sync over ultra wide and am so glad I did. Ultra wide is cool but the smoothness can't be beat

Ultrawide is very nice, no question about that. But if you played on a Gsync Display once, you never wanna miss it again.

Safe some more Money and go for the x34 than.

That is a 1080p panel, imo not a good idea. But to each there own. I would buy 1440p instead

Ultrawide is definitely worth it. I struggled with this decision a lot too but once I bought my 34UM68-P I could not be more happy. The extra real estate is not only extra immersion in games but also super great for movies and having multiple windows open. 

 

With frame limiting tearing is also very rare and if it does happy it's VERY minor. Gsync has a premium that isn't worth it over ultrawide especially with as little tearing I have seen. 

 

Also despite it being only 1080p it looks amazing! 1440p must be incredible!

Depending where you are from, you could try to find refurbs of the Acer X34 for around 700~900 usd. No compromises. But if that's not an option, you can have a look at the Acer Z35 mentioned. I'll sacrifice resolution over G-SYNC+ultrawide any day.

The wait might not be long with the holiday season coming up, Q4 marks the biggest releases of the year and sales.
