Good build for AI and Unity?

Devin92

Hello guys, so this is a partlist for a friend. He want 1080 for deep learning and a powerful but not ridiculous cpu for unity, and I dont think he will overclock very soon. No budget but 2k CAD is probly the most he want to spend unless theres a good reason to invest more.

Tell me what you guys think.

If he don't overclock will a i7-6700 be good enough? I checked the clock speed between the two and find non k one has a significant lower frequency. Why is this? and will it affect performance very much given 6700k is not overclocked.

Getting a K processor and not oc'ing is kind of sorry, really. You are spending extra money for no extra performance. The clock speed is higher, yeah, but that small offset won't really make a difference in current games. Maybe you can overclock in a few years, to futureproof more.

well, thats the plan.

But this build is not for gaming. Will Unity and AI development benefit from a beefier CPU?

They will, i think, but that isn't really needed. This cpu does handle everything you throw at it and should get the job done. Side note: i once had to use a pentium 4 to use with unity 4, so even the worst cpus still work. derp.
