A chat room

Hello!

I think it would be pretty cool if the LTT forums had a chat room. The reason I say this is because on this gaming forum https://starmadedock.net/ they have a chat function https://starmadedock.net/chat/. Comopared to other forums that lack chat I really feel less connected with the community as I don't get the live feedback when interacting with eachother which I did get on that forum. Therefor I propose that one has one on LTT forums as well

E: So main reason for why chat room is not going to happen is moderation. Official chat room would require moderator watching it 247. Current mod team is working for free as volunteers. They do what they can to keep forums clean and nice to all. It would require paying someone to fill in those hours that fell into dead timezones. Times when US/CA people sleep and Europeans are at work/school. With Australians being somewhere in between.

but discord is not a part of the site...a chat room will bring the site much more together in my opinion

Read the E: part of my post. It will never happen. If you want such, pay for 3 full time mods (each will need to have 8+h days to get overlap going on).

Read the E: part of my post. It will never happen. If you want such, pay for 3 full time mods (each will need to have 8+h days to get overlap going on).

 

I would say have there be 9 mods 3 per shift with overlapping hours

a chat room would slow things down so much the speed would be like Dial-Up

also just use discord or some other type of chat room service

As has been said, anything that's official would need to be moderated, and there's no way that we would be able to do that on the scale required for a forum chatroom. There are plenty of third party chat rooms, so I would encourage that you use those instead.
