You eventually forget how to breath. Plus you eventually end up in a vegetative state -- so unless someone is taking EXTREMELY good care of you, you will die.

If you're serious I guess that would make sense.

Yes you can. Ronald Regan the former president also died from that disease.

Literally everyone who has Alzheimers dies from Alzheimers...unless they die from something else first. Your body shuts down, loss of memory is just the start.

I had never bothered to look in to the extent of what Alzheimers does to your body besides from memory loss. I assumed something else would get you at that point, say generic heart failure.

Here's a basic summary taken from various parts of wikipedia:

Quote

The cause of Alzheimer's disease is poorly understood. There are no medications or supplements decrease the risk of contracting Alzheimer's. No treatments stop or reverse its progression. Gradually, bodily functions are lost, ultimately leading to death. Although the speed of progression can vary, the average life expectancy following diagnosis is three to nine years.

It's basically a death sentence that nobody understands.

It's sad. The guy who lived next door to me developed it and would just repeat himself over and over. Strong as an ox too even in his late 70s. He died from it and within a year after his death his wife developed it too. She had to go into to a nursing home because she kept forgetting to eat and her fridge was filled with nothing but rotten food (that's how the family figured out she had it). I was talking to one of their sons and boy was he excited about his prospects in 25-30 years seeing both his parents got Alzheimers.

My grandfather also has alzheimers, but my grandma takes very good care of him (basically chews for him). He's been in a completely vegetative (basically brain dead) state for the last 6-8 years. It's sad more for my grandma than anyone else since she can't just stop feeding him and let him die, but she also hasn't really left her house in the last eight years (she's missed parties, weddings, etc...). The worst part of it all, I have a very strong gut feeling that she's going to die shortly after he dies.

Its an enviromental disease, chemicals and such. We have so much to learn. Companies put fire retardant chemicals in furniture which floats into the air and drops to the ground when its used. The TV show W5 did an episode on it, same with the McDonalds goatee documentary guy now doing a series of episodes for CNN.

Pesticides, GMO's, pollution. Look at the rates of the disease as compared to decades past.
