What is the most demanding recommending specs in a game?

Carlos1010

Hi all,

So recently I just went on the requirements for crisis 3 and for the recommended it said like a GTX 550 or something and a quad core CPU and there was a add on the left that this PC https://goo.gl/H6WDBo can pass 99% of recommended specs for any game, anyone know the games in the 1%? Just curious, thanks in advanced.

Try to play no man's sky. You need a titan XP and a 6700k to play that game without lag.

The reason is the game is designed around GCN and thus is not optimized for Nvidia.

This is the first time I'm hearing this. So the game runs fine on AMD cards? In my case I'm running into CPU bottlenecks though since when I enter a planet at full speed, the rendering of terrain and flora takes time. I didn't think an i5 should do that bad. It's just a bad port IMO.

From what I've been told by a friend with a R9 Nano - game runs effortlessly on his system (2600K)

2600k is quite a bit faster than my poor 6402P.

Could be. Though considering that the consoles are identical to AMD's GCN desktop cards - it wouldn't surprise me if the game was simply better optimized for the hardware.

Bull shit lol. Have you not seen any reviews? The 480 has more lag than ANY Nvidia card.

That could be true. However, the game goes into constant 60 fps once I get on the surface of the planet. So not running into any GPU related issues even with high amounts of action happening.

Even the PS4 goes into 10 fps once you go to the surface of a planet.

Well, if your not surprised yet. Maybe this will do it. Stop fanning Don, has nothing to do with AMD, it's PC.

Guys, you also need to make the distinction between games that use "procedural generation" to create worlds and levels  and normal games.

Procedural Generation games (Ashes of the singularity , no mans sky, elite:dangerous ) create the "levels" , planets, fauna on planets on the fly , they use the process to create terrain shape (hills, waters, building locations, location and type of vegetation and animals ) and then apply the textures already loaded in video card's ram over the surfaces.

With such games, if the processor is too slow the terrain of a new location may be generated quite slowly, slow enough that your character reaches the location before everything's done and bushes and plants may not load fast enough because of this.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedural_generation for a list of games using procedural generation

Games like Rise of the Tomb Raider have the levels premade, everything's precomputed, when you see a loading screen all the geometry and all the math is already done and loaded from a "game level" file and only the textures and audio sounds that are present in that level have to be loaded from the hard drive.

I have a FX-8320 cpu and a Radeon 7770 Ghz edition with just 1 GB of memory and I could play Rise of Tomb Raider just fine with low-medium settings... i think the fps hovered around 30-50 fps. I could have lowered the graphical settings even more by reducing the environment (plants and stuff) to the minimum but I wanted to enjoy the game as well.

The highest requirements I know of right now is Quantum Break - on Steam it's recommending NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 390  but previous recommended settings were 980ti or Fury X.

Yes, that anecdotal evidence blows the lid off of that whole issue.

I take no stand on NMS framerategate. The only stance I take is that anecdotal evidence is insignificant.

Most of the people claiming to not have an issue only have smooth game play after an hour.

But find one trusted source that says it has anything to do with which graphics card you run, how about DF?
