Can I use different HDDs / HDDs with different speeds in a NAS?

TopWargamer

Title is pretty much my entire question, although if I am able to, would I have to use a certain RAID level?

Yeah you can, you can use them as individual drives or in raid, whatever you want.

Sweet, that's good to know, because I've found some good deals on various different drives. When throw in a different drive, is there anything I need to do, or will the NAS software automatically recognize the drive and it into the RAID array? Also, would I be restricted to a certain RAID level if I used different sized drives?

I've always wondered what would appen if you RAIDed an SSD with a Hard Drive.

Performance would probably be crippled by the HDD's slowness, but I want to see it happen.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
