Windows 10 AU and Edge

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

They are many fines paid subscription A/V if that is what you like. Try Kaspersky Lab security solution.

I'm going absolutely crazy. Ever since the Windows 10 Anniversary update I've had severe browser issues. Basically every browser I try to run acts like I'm on dial-up. I've tried everything I can find including a fresh install of Windows 10 and using the update assistant (which did work until last nights update). I've cornered the problem to the use of an antivirus, if I have Trend active I have the problem (opening a page takes 20 seconds), disable Trend and the page loads almost instantly. I've uninstalled Trend and re installed it. Tried multiple settings, in both Trend and the browser. Tried Chrome, Firefox, and just using Explorer (worked the fastest).

I've tried resetting my Ethernet and every Command Prompt listed online and then some. I'm not using the Bit malware program. I've run countless sweeps and found nothing.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

If you have freshly reinstalled Windows and the issue persists it may be a coincidence. Might be an idea to phone your ISP to double check your lines... Also check your speed via speedtest.net

Also get rid of that AV you dont require it in Windows 10.

That only protects Windows, not the rest of the system.

My speed is fine, once I'm in a window it's normal. The problem is opening a window. And without Trend active it's lightning fast. Also no issues in games. Only using a internet browser.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

So you have found your issue, uninstall it and let Windows Defender do its job :)

Two problems with that. First off, Defender isn't complete protection. I'm not a porn person so that might not be the end of the world. if I hadn't lost my temper and killed Defender with fire thinking it might be the problem. :( We're not on speaking terms

that website is pretty hard to understand, but from what I see defender is almost as good as trend micro, with the only major feature it is missing being spam filters (not very important) and key loggers.

also, when was that website last updated?

Don't know, but I'm sure you can understand not wanting to move from a paid subscription, to a free piece of software. And I do mean it, Defender is dead, it has ceased to be. To the point I might have to do a fresh install again to bring it back. All of which is silly when I have Trend that I paid to use. If it was just trend the internet would have exploded with angry Trend customers, and that's not the case. So though the problem follows Trend, Trend itself is likely not the issue.

F-Secure seems to have worked. If it's a poor choice please let me know, going off a recommendation from a friend whos used them for some time. Browser is now as fast as unprotected. I pray to Gabe it holds.

Not going to bus roll Trend Micro, but I did a clean install several times. So all I can say is the new suite works. Now I feel bad about Defender, and the fire.

If tomorrow I'm still good I'll mark this solved.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
