Need help, death and life situation

Yooooooooooooooo waddup guys.

So my brother wanted a gaming pc, he got all the parts, but he saw something weird, which i cannot help him with so i am asking you guys for the help. GTX 1060 Asus RoG Strix edition. There are two cards on the market. One is as i think factory overclocked, other is not. The overclocked one costs like 50 euros more. I wanted to ask someone who has this card:

Should he go with the cheaper one?
Can you overclock the not overclocked one with Afterburner or smtng? (Not a big fan of overclocking, dont judge me if i dont know how to overclock right now xd)

Is it worth the 50 euros for the Factory overclocked one?
Can you overclock the factory one even more?

Looking for expert answers,
Thanks in advance,

Yttrizy boi

If it's a different cooler, then yes. If same cooler just with slight factory overclock, then buy the cheaper one and overclock it yourself.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

Life and death situation? Really?

I thought you had just touched a bare PSU pcb or something.

I thought he put a poor quality PSU in a computer or something.

Yup xD.

"my computer caught fire and burnt my house down. I was able to salvage the PSU but it smells like ammonia and some of the bulb-looking things are swollen. Is it safe to use again?"

Assuming your PSU isn't a bomb, it isn't a life or death situation.

Get the cheapest aftermarker cooled open air styled GTX 1060,

can you link us the specific cards? if it has the same cooler, the 50 bucks for a factory overclock will not be worth it, as you could clock it the same easily.

Asus cherry-picks the better chips (a process called "binning") for the OC models. So, while you might still be able to match the clocks by overclocking the default model, you'll have better odds with the OC model.

Also, keep in mind, the warranty applies to the marketed clockspeeds too. They'll swap the OC model for a new one if it becomes unstable over time whereas if you do an RMA for having overclocked the non-OC model, you may well end up being denied service.
