GPU selection and upgradability

Hello, I'm preparing to build my first for gaming and have a question regarding GPU.

Short terms, I'll only play a 1080p 100Hz.

In 1 to 3 years, I will upgrade for Ultrawide 1440p Gaming. (And will want High to Ultra settings)

1/ Is 1070 enough for Ultrawide 1440p High setting 60fps ?

2/ what is my best option, and money use ?

2.1/ buy RX480 now, and a second one for Crossefire to handle Ultrawide 1440p High setting 60fps

2.2/ buy GTX 1060 now, and sell it later, to buy a GTX1070 when I upgrade my monitor.

Thanks for your advise.

I would go with the 1070 since it'll do 1440@60.

Depends on your budget for the ultrawide when you decide to get it. If you don't want to pay out of your behind for a monitor one with freesync will be cheaper than one with g-sync, so AMD graphics cards would work better in that case. If you think you'll have money to burn go with an nVidia graphics card and a g-sync monitor because it would be somewhat better.

you should check the reviews. a lot of these 1440p numbers are in the mid 30's. ( for minimums ) ( might be okay ( BS ) on a gsync monitor ( BS ) ) ...........you'll have to make adjustments if you want to game at higher settings.......

I'd suggest a Crossfire RX480 due to it running faster, however, there are some games who don't optimize Crossfire/SLI. but RX480 is generally faster and a freesync monitor is much cheaper.

Id go for the 1070, a single powerful card is better than 2 less powerful cards in SLI/Crossfire and some games don't support multi-card, so your stuck with single card performance. The 1070 should be fine with an ultrawide for a couple years to come.
