~1,000 Euro build for a friend

Here's what I put together so far:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rsYL2R

£918.12 which would be roughly 1092.85 Euro

Changes and suggestions welcome.

Primarily gaming focused. He has a monitor and peripherals.

FYI about the case, I only chose that as an excuse to build in that case since I've wanted to for a while now lol. Feel free to change that if you'd like to though.

Also I have Windows 10 for him already, so that doesn't need to be included.

I would go for a better PSU than this one personally.

You said he has a monitor already. What res/refresh rate ?

CPU : i7 8700k @5GHz, GPU : ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX, RAM : 2x8Go 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance, MB : ASUS Prime Z370-A, PSU : CM V850, Case :  NZXT S340, CPU Cooler : NZXT Kraken x62, Monitor : Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 1440p 165Hz, OS : Windows 10 Home 64 bits

Alrighty. Any suggestions? I wanted to go for a fully modular one to make it look nicer but going to a non-modular one would be fine.

Not sure. He mentioned to be that be might just use his TV for a while until he has enough money for a more decent monitor so that's why I stuck the 1070 in there.

2 very simple things,

1. Cheaper case (go for a micro atx if you want as smaller PC case=win win situation unless you want to watercool* or add lots of drives or something)

2. Cheaper SSD, the 850 evo is pretty dang old and there are similar performing drives for less

one final thing, the price of the PSU isn't included in the parts list so...

Anything Seasonic/XFX (but not XT, it's not a budget build so shouldn't even matter), EVGA G2/T2/P2, super flower stuff, Corsair RMi/RMx/HXi/AX/AXi :P

edit: I totally know the difference between watercooling and OCing...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I personally would go for a better PSU. For example the BeQuiet Straight Power 10 CM 600W 80+ Gold

And maybe spend a few bugs more for a Z170 Board for 20 Pcie lanes instead of 16. Yes it's not an overclockable CPU but you can buy in the future a Pcie X4 SSD and link the GPU still with 16 lanes.

A cooler master V550 or EVGA supernova 550 G2 would be better, but pricier too.

Depending on the TV, it might be horrible to use it as a gaming monitor. The 1070 may be overkill depending on the resolution he will be playing at in the future

Okay. So he just told me what kind of games he was actually going to be playing.

This includes Football Manager, Civilization and some RTS games.

Soooo yeah...I don't think he's going to need a GTX 1070 lol

Build update!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

My friend told me that he's mainly going to be playing Football Manager, Civilization and some RTS games.

Switched out the GTX 1070 for a RX 480 instead.

On that note, I'm thinking it might be worth waiting for the GTX1060, but we'll see what happens.

I'm going to keep the same case for now, but that's still subject to change so don't worry about that.

Lastly switched the SSD to an Intel 730 series one instead.

EDIT: I just noticed the power supply is not included in the price and I have no idea why

The 1060 is already out

I'm a educated fool with money on my mind.

They say i got to learn but nobody here to teach me,if they can't understand it how can they reach me

Power and the money, money and the power, minute after minute, hour after hour

My Motivation

Not updated, gotta manually look at all RX480 and 1060 cards on OCUK, Scan, Ebuyer ect.
