GTX 1070 HARD DECISION !

blueballs

So, first of all, I want to make a custom bios for that puppy and put it underwater in the near future and try to get the max performance out of it.

I don't really have a budget but I want to make a good bang for the buck decision and right now I am between 2 gtx 1070 model.

Evga FTW at 609.99$  CAD

Asus Turbo at 539.99$ CAD

I know the asus won't really satisfied my "need' but damn it has a 70$ CAD reduction .-.

I'd skip the Asus plastic one, they probably perform almost exactly the same, but the EVGA should be quiet and cool (perhaps it gets you a better OC).

I would go founders edition or at least stock PC design for waterblock compatibility

The ACX 3.0 and the Superclocked ACX 3.0 uses the Founders Edition (Reference) layout. The only difference between the two are the coolers used. I think the ACX 3.0 is the better IMO due to the better thermal capacity compared to the blower design.

that is basically the absolute worse GTX 1070 vs pretty much the best GTX 1070...for a +12% on price? it's WELL worth it my brother.

Also watercooling a 1070 really isnt worth it IMHO...they have low TDP, they don't overclock very far, and they don't get very hot...a good air cooled card is more than enough...at this point if you're going to buy a waterblock and all that shit just get a 1080.

This.

Every single 1070/1080 has leveled off at 2000-2100mhz tops, regardless of  custom boards ,power phases, single or dual 8-pin, cooling, and so on. Lots of overclocked Founders cards are basically reaching peak performance akin to their aftermarket variants, albeit with horrible thermals. So yes, 1070 FTW or just go 1080 because that's where the 1070+waterblock is going to get you anyway.
