Which GTX 1070 to choose?

Endre

Hello :)

This is my first post here!

So I've been drooling over a GTX 1070 for many weeks now, which is a good sign, then I know it's the right decision.

I don't have too much money to spend, as I'm looking into buying a new 1440p monitor as well, which is not cheap. I'm even buying a used one to save money.

Therefore I've been looking at the following cards:
MSI Armor OC (390£)

Palit Jetstream (395£)
Palit GameRock (389£)

There are some difference to these cards, the coolers and the clock speed and boost clock speed.

So my questions is;
1. Which cooler is most effective and less noisy? Are there any benchmarks comparisons that I haven't been able to find?
2. Does the clock speeds matter at all, when I can OC it after I buy it?

Thanks for any replies!

pascal doesnt oc that well, and diffrence in aib cards for 1070 are really minor.

msi's card has that no fan spinning until certain temp thing. For palit cards i have no clue

I guess that MSI card is best just because MSI and everything has 2 fans and almost the same cooling system. So go with that MSI

From those cards, I would get MSI with 2 fans.

Depends how you look at it.

GTX 1070 specs are to be clocked at 1683MHz. I managed to get stable 2136MHz.

So that's 453MHz increase on core == 27% higher cloocks.

But then someone will say that out of the box those cards will get to 1880MHz because of gpu boost 3.0, and OC is only like 10%.

I'm pretty happy with OC that my card can get.

I own a Palit 1080 (Super JetStream) and it kicks ass. Very silent, very cool, and really fast. Underrated brand here.

If we were talking MSI Gaming X maybe then it would be debatable, but the Armor is a lower tier. Now, since JetStream is ref frequencies I think you should go with the GameRock.

Print off pictures of them, turn them into paper planes and see which one flies the furthest.

Do you have a benchmark of the differences between the coolers?

I don't know, my SuperJetStream didn't really look good on photos but in person it got much better. Still, with that 2'5 slot design I had a hard time making it fit in my rig.

Here are a couple photos, excuse me for bad quality. Inside the case it looks good with configurable RGB lightning.

Plus, all Palit cards have an awesome feature that's lacking on most custom models of 1080's and 1070's- Dual BIOS :D
