Google is taking down 8 'pirate' links every second

Due to its transparency report we can see exactly how many DMCA notices Google receives each month and the latest numbers are nothing short of staggering. In the last week of September alone the search engine processed requests to take down a record-breaking 5.3 million ‘pirate’ links. That means Google is now removing nine allegedly-infringing URLs from its indexes every single second of every single day.

There's 86,400 seconds in a day. Google is removing 8 pirate links every second. That's 691,200 pirate links removed every day. That's an insane number. Do I support piracy? For the most part, no, but at the same time Google should not be policing the Internet.

Because the links being removed are links to specific torrents.

Like, let's say I Google'd "Pacific Rim free download". And let's say Google blocked all Pacific Rim downloads from The Bay. Yes, the frontpage link of The Bay would come up, but the actual link that goes to the download for Pacific Rim would not show up.

Isn't Google a search provider not the link provider? It isn't Google's job to police the internet. It mostly big companies forcing them to do it because they do not understand how the internet works.

Ok smartass, I was using Pacific Rim as an example. I never said that Pacific Rim itself was blocked.

I was just calling attention to that because I think that the number Google put of is BS, if they were hitting 691,200 links a day you would think that you wouldn't be able to get any TPB links on google.

Would you not focus more of your attention on TPB though? after all imo it's the most well known (at least to the normal public) torrent site and probably the first one many first time pirates (arrg) are likely to go to. Hell my mom doesn't know what defragging is, doens't know copy paste keyboard shortcuts, and saves url's to her desktop but she knows how to hit TPB up for a free movie.

This is why magnet links exist. Stick to becoming an ISP instead of wasting your time, Google.

Yes and no. Some companies like Adobe, for example, are so full of themselves that they actually believe their software is worth what they are charging. Because of practices like these, people are more likely to pirate. On the other end of the spectrum, there is a great art program from Japan known as Paint Tool Sai that's 50 dollars and worth it.

Just my perspective. People will be more inclined to support vs pirating if the companies had more common sense with their pricing.

127 ur mom buy you those?

Hmm let's see, by my estimate she bought about 0 of them, you assuming I'm like 12 or something? Typical, whenever someone realizes they spoke too soon they always pull out the age card "hur hur urpar37tz buy u stufz l0z3r hurhurhur" the last game my mom bought me was Halo CE when it launched in 2001.

Never torrented a game. They're cheap and provide hours of entertainment. I've have done albums before, I was never going to but them though, if I even found them in the first place, most of them I haven't even replayed.

It would of been throwing money away if I hadn't torrented. In fact, I've gone to gigs of several artists several times and never bought their albums, and touring is where they make all their money anyway. Wouldn't of even know about them if I hadn't torrented. If the content is good enough it will be supported.
