1.7v is fine. 1.9+v is what normally kills things.

If it dies replace it, then push the replacement till it dies, repeat.

You probbably mean 1,7V for short period of time right?

Because running chip at 1,7V for daily use is probbably going to degrade your CPU in no time.

I doubt anyone who would actually need 1.7v 24/7, 1.7v on the newer chips would mean 5GHz+, at that speed even gaming session goes supersonic. I might be wrong though, would definitely love to see someone do that and tells us how long the cpu lasted.

If I'm not mistaken, i7 7700k doesn't ned that much voltage to go beyond 5GHz. I saw that a lot of users can get even to 5,1 and 5,2GHz at 1,4V. And that's kinda safe for daily usage.

I would probbably settle for 5,0GHz at 1,3 - 1,35V if temps would be okay ... don't need more than that power for any games lol

So 1,7V on i7 7700k should give pretty decent OC, if not near 6GHz.

You going to mess with the i3 and Pentium when they are out?

Will you be able to overclock the new pentium through blvk or is it like overclocking locked chips on skylake? I assume they fixed that with Z270?

top binned fx9590 8 core will be 500 low bin slow mode will be 350-380. 6 core will be 250-280. 4 core will be 150-180 :)

not to mention the boards will be cheaper and the imc is weaker so cheap ram can be used.

I'm definitively digging this high single threaded performance stuff.  My daily PC has never felt this fast.

7700k @ 5.3 GHz, 4.9 GHz cache, 3200 XMP and 3600 Auto.  I'll have some memory and cache improvements soon.

Best single core so far.

7700k @ 5.3_4.9_3200 XMP Single Core = 234.jpg

Multi core

7700k @ 5.3_4.9_3600 Auto Single Core = 233, Multi Core = 1188.jpg

Very nice.  Kinda surprised it isn't higher with that combination of CPU, cache and timings?

Will it pull of a multi core at those settings?  Showed up right after I posted.  :D

I just did mine tonight and I'm not sure 1.4v was its lowest voltage for Cinebench at 5.3. I just put 1.4v in for some quick runs and surprised it worked.

I can't go sub ambient, but next cold day I'll I'll bring ambient down @Jumper118 style!  Haha
