Grabbed a D15S, quite an improvement from over U14S at higher clocks. Max temp during Cinebench runs at 4.9/1.4v is about 68c, the U14s would hit about 75c at 4.7/1.3v.

I tried 5ghz but I couldn't get it to finish a run, I went up to about 1.42v. Temps were still quite good, maxing at around 71c.

@harrynowl

Is it normal for a Xeon X5450 to run around 25oC cooler at idle than a QX6850, with the cooler being noticeably warm with both (and the fan at 100%)?

Depends on Vcore (or "silicone lottery"), and Tj max. set by program that monitors the core temps.
SpeedStep/C1E active in both ?

CPU : Core i7 6950X @ 4.26 GHz + Hydronaut + TRVX + 2x Delta 38mm PWM
MB : Gigabyte X99 SOC (BIOS F23c)
RAM : 4x Patriot Viper Steel 4000MHz CL16 @ 3042MHz CL12.12.12.24 CR2T @1.48V.
GPU : Titan Xp Collector's Edition (Empire)
M.2/HDD : Samsung SM961 256GB (NVMe/OS) + + 3x HGST Ultrastar 7K6000 6TB
DAC : Motu M4 + Audio Technica ATH-A900Z
PSU: Seasonic X-760 || CASE : Fractal Meshify 2 XL || OS : Win 10 Pro x64

IDK the Q6600 was hotter than the X5450 for sure but 25c sounds a bit off. what about load?

At load the QX6850 thermal throttles and the cooler is too hot to touch, the Xeon hits around 70oC (77oC at 3.25GHz).

Best way to find out is to try :P

Might as well give it a shot-people may value them higher than Xeons, but its really a shit CPU after using the Xeon. And BTW, I think it was core package 1 that was overheating, it runs 10oC hotter than package 2 due to the poor binning of the C2D used.

Yeah that second core is a bit leaky by the sounds of it

Pentium Extreme Edition 965 @ 4GHz with 4GB DDR3 1333 CL6.6.5.12 CR1T @ 1,65V :)

R15 :

I know Cinebench likes Hyper Threading... but my R15's multi result is kinda ridiculous compared to 5GHz Pentium D 925  =)

PS. If anyone is wondering : Performance Level for RAM was "5" at those settings :)
