Of course it won't - the 1070 costs 450$ - RX 480 is launching at 230$ - that's about half the price - expect the 1070 to be 40% faster on average.

You may want a better PSU - that one is crappy.

So you know the card is not out yet, but you still want us to tell you how it performs? That doesn't make sense.. We don't know how it WILL perform, we only know how it will ALLEGEDLY perform in the game(s)/test(s) AMD did.

Anyways, the GTX 1070 should perform better, as the RX 480 supposedly will perform on the level of a GTX 980 (and in the past the current gen X70 card outperform last gen's X80 card, but usually not the X80 Ti variant)

Check OC3D.TV and DigitalFoundry - Linus' testing isn't the best.

1070 is equivalent to 980ti

480 is equivalent to 980

is it worth the extra 220 dollars to you

for the same price u can have 2 480's in cf

which would be eq to 2 980's

which blows the 1070 out the water and traded blows with the 1080

also don't listern to te bs that don will reply with about crossfire having issues and u only have half the performance of some games don't support it

truth is if the game doesn't support cf 1 480 will be plenty of power

and the aa games it may take a bit longer for cf profiles and what not

but all that performance for the same price as a 1070 u can't go wrong

Sarcasm?

Crossfire and SLI are for when one card can't supply the power you need. Period.

OP, wait for the benchmarks to hit. In a few days we can have a more informed conversation.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Go for the 1070. People keep saying 2 of the amd card will outperform but hello peeps, not everygame runs the same with 2 cards in crossfire!!

Generally the case but the power of the 480 performs that of a enthusiast card

so is a valid option for cf

especialy at the price

Hey hey, I don't advocate SLI OR CF. if you can afford it - 1070. If you can't  - 480. Tis how it is

No xD it performs like a enthusiast card in one game that doesn't even use crossfire when run by the FUCKING COMPETITION...

Sorry to yell but this shit was old the second AMD pulled that stunt. The crossfire benchmarks for the 480 that leaked match mine with a 980ti. And that's with the 480 overclocked. And crossfire doesn't work unless the game supports it.

I would say the same to anyone wanting to run two 1060s. Get a single card. I've gone from crossfiring mid level cards to a single powerful card and so have others on this forum. We all report the same thing, bliss.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The short answer is that the GTX 1070 =/= RX 480.  These two cards aren't competing with each other, but that doesn't mean the RX 480 isn't recommendable.

We are expecting that it will perform somewhere between a GTX 970 and GTX 980 on average, but we won't be sure until it comes out with benchmarks.  At the very least, we know it will be VR ready (so at least GTX 970/R9 390 performance is guaranteed).

On that estimation alone, it's a pretty fair value, but maybe wait to see if it's a big enough leap from a gtx 780.  Just remember, they're both in different leagues - one's more for 1440p and one's more for 1080p.

Get a SSD and new PSU if it won't kill ya. :/

Your motherboard and cpu are fine.

Yea that's the problem. Most are in the $420-50 range. The msi aero is supposed to be $380 but with a blower so expect higher temps if the EF is anything to go by. You may just want to wait out the storm of buyers and let the prices settle. Not to mention your 780 is still a boss. The RX 480 might cause Nvidia step up production and lower the cost a bit.

or keep waiting for vega and you might have the performance of 2 480s for the price of  a 1070 or less (~030)~

Cause Nvidia artificially jacked prices up with the terrible cooler that is the overpriced FE
