Hi, 

Just catching up on the latest WAN show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w7UVulCTDk and linus mentioned that amazon have removed LMG from its affiliate program due to not following the guidelines (Linus mentioned it was something that he misinterpreted). As someone who's worked with amazon in the past and has a fairly sizable YouTube channel, I was wondering if there has been any more information posted on the forum on what LMG did so I, as well as others, don't do the same.

They used an affiliate link that linked to just Amazon, not specific products. That's my understanding of it, at least. 

 

Basically, LTT could get a kickback from someone buying food from Amazon, even though it has nothing to do with LTT's content.

My understanding was that the issue is that they asked you to add their affiliate link to your bookmarks, not that the the link wasn't to a specified product.

 

Although I think that Linus has probably been able to resolve the Issue with amazon as he has taken down his twitter posts about the issue.

Not exactly. LTT broke the Terms of Use and his tweets were also breaking them. LTT is in deep shit and if Amazon want to take it to court, they have a LOT more resources than LTT. Basically, what Amazon say, that happens.

Well they have been breaking the rules since 2013, but Amazon only acts on it now.. 3 years later, so that seems weird to me.

But than again, I don't know the full story on both sides so can't say much about it.
