Bitcoin mining, how much will I make? Will it kill my card?

I have a 4690k and a 970, how long would it take me to make for example £10 worth of bitcoin and what toll would it put on my system in the long run?

note: i have almost zero experience in this, however, I do know that mining apparently isn't profitable anymore and it does put a lot of stress on your gpu if you continue doing it for a longer period

Absolutely nothing.

It's going to be nothing but a detriment for you to attempt to mine with your setup. You'll never get a return on the wear on your hardware and power, let alone any profit.

 

Since specialized application machines have become popular, consumer computers are absolutely worthless for mining.

It's not worth it anymore on GPU's. It will take way too long and you will lose more money thanks to the power consumption

You will not make a profit, profitable gpu bitcoin mining has been over for more than a year. If the card doesn't overheat it shouldn't shorten its lifespan if you decide to waste power.

GPU bitcoin mining has not been profitable for almost 2 years now even. I remember my friends and I talking about bitcoin and mining and how it shortly after that became not profitable. And people that mined on GPU's went over to dogecoin..

Even if you bought a specialized $1600 bit mining machine, you still wouldn't see returns, and those specialized machines put computers in the ground. Hard.

Well there is, if you spend a whole lot of money on ASIC miners and have a lot of time to get your investment back.

Wanna mine? ETH is probably the best, I'm making around $200-300 per month after taking off the power bill (although this is with a 290X and 4 7950s).

Yes and no, with cudaminer, Nvidia cards has gotten a nice boost of hashrate with AMD cards slowly degrading in terms of hash rate...before you can easily get 32MH/s or even high with a stock 290X but now you need to OC a 290X just to get 30MH/s :/

Let me take take you on a run down. With those specs you might make a penny every 2-3 months. So it would be faster to search the streets or GET A JOB. If you are serious get an ASIC that does 4TH/s minimum. Bitcoin is halvening so the amount earned will be cut in half so things will change. With 4TH/s you would see $5.76 every 24 hours and those ASICs run around $500-$700. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Look at etheruem with a 7950 you can make $80 a month Until the end of this month or next I can't remember

Look up Nicehash and try their mining software. I use it on multiple computers and it's pretty sick if you're looking to make a decent amount of money. Don't expect to be rolling in dough, but you will get something sizable. They make it simple to get started mining and everything. You CAN actually make some money through their service. They basically run a service where you mine a certain algorithm on your computer, directing it to their servers, they sell the hashing power and pay you in Bitcoins. You don't have to even make an account with them either, all you have to do is download the client software and have a wallet address. If you want any help setting up the software, let me know.

 

Your graphics card will take a beating. Without proper cooling, your card will break down. One thing to remember is that your card's PCB will heat up a lot more over time, and the power delivery will also be taxed much more. I have fans blowing air on the back of my card to cool the PCB. Your power supply will also take a beating due to the constant high wattage. Pushing your components for 24/7 operation, pinned at 100% usage will make them wear out. However, as long as you monitor your temperatures, you should be fine.
