heatsinks and fans

napier48

My old motherboard has a standard fan cooling system.

I bought a new motherboard and the pin holes are different like a rectangle and the cpu is at an angle like a dell precision 380.

How do i know which heatsink to buy and how do i mount it in the holes?

also the cpu is at an angle wouldn't i be putting the heatsink on top of the cpu and doesn't match the angle?

Ty-wraps :)

I assume you're saying that your previous heatsink won't fit on the new mother board because the mounting holes are in a different pattern (rectangular)?

It may be some sort of server board and you may need to find a particular server heatsink. Or you could ghetto it with ty-wraps

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.
