Posted June 13, 2016 I have been using linux for the whole year since Jan 1st But really, It's been boring I'll admit it I've had to do the same things, play the same 4 games for fucking 6 months+ , and such I've been limited Linux has little support towards what I want to do, which I'm going to admit that also Windows has everything I need, full support and shit Now, last time I tried to install windows after almost bricking my motherboard, I kept getting told to get some sort of HDD drivers for install or windows wouldn't carry on with the installer. Thus making the HDD uselss But that was last time, Ubuntu has installed everything for my components, question is, will it work with windows? I can risk all my stuff, my photos, videos, documents, everything, just for windows or should I just keep my self limited as always I have the installer ready to go, just need to select boot If windows doesn't work, I am 90% sure that it will brick my motherboard, in fact make that 100% Should I fuck it all, and go for windows? or stay to my boring life computer life? I need you guys to help me which to choose How I ended up with Linux? well, I fucked windows up while messing up with the good ol' cpu cores! Well, now you're reading this, I might as well inspire you with a deep quote If you fall, I'll be there - Floor so inspiring, so deep, the feels ;-; THE FEELS ;-; Newer Build which I'm gonna buy when I haz moneyz CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor (£0.00) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Posted June 13, 2016 Try it! If you don´t want to risk your data and want to get used to Windows first run it in a VM. But I would HIGHLY recommend Windows 7 over Windows 10. 10 ist just bad in my oppinion, I would never install it on my computer.. Please quote me in any answers to my posts, so that I can read them easily and don´t forget about them. Thanks! I love spending my time with PC tinkering, networking and server-stuff. Posted June 13, 2016 Why would you be risking your data? Back it up and transfer it once you setup your new OS. You'll want to format the drive anyway. If you want to play around with Linux just install a VM. Posted June 13, 2016 Well having used ubuntu myself now and then for half a year, i wouldn't go to W10 but i would go to W7. If you compare them and forget W10 is "newer and better and whatever" (tbh i think w10 is complete crap) so i would firstly go to w7, you can always go to w10 after that. It will be easier to adjust and going from linux straight to w10 might cause a lot of frustration because w10 might act very annoying sometimes. You might lose more control than you want to give up. If you want my attention, quote meh! Posted June 13, 2016 Do you have any problems with backup? Ask your friends for some disk space for most important docs. I've already risked with my hard drive and I don't wish anyone same bothering with data recovery.
 Posted June 13, 2016 That motherboard and every other component in your build signature is windows compatible. you having an installation error sounds like an install media problem or a bios setting problem. Now since your moving from Linux you will most certainly lose your data as the drive partitions will require a different formatting. I would back up what you can and change, over prioritizing photos documents and personal videos that you can't get elsewhere. System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Posted June 13, 2016 Why not dual boot? Can always backup your data to an external media as other have suggested. As for your MoBo, just double check that the settings so that AHCI is enabled and any other odd settings reset to default. Helps avoid any odd installation errors that can be caused (can't prevent all of course). After Windows is installed, you could re-installed Ubuntu (or any other Linux distro) along side Windows and use both. My laptop has Fedora 23 and Windows 10 installed on the same SSD.
