How can the government shut down? everything would go to shit.

 

Calling these a "shut down" is always really confusing to everyone.  Basically, what happens is that the government cannot decide on a budget.  If they go too long without approving a budget by law they cannot spend anymore money unless a new budget gets approved or if money for something had already been approved beforehand.

We have these guys that call themselves politicians. They claim to be for the people, but they can care less about us because no matter what happens they get paid. So, they get into office and pass laws that screw the people, but they are not idiots because they also pass laws that say that these politicians dont have to follow the laws they make. Long story short, the people get screwed and the politicians get rich.

Come midnight tonight if they dont raise the debt ceiling the US will default on their loans and hundreds of thousands of employees will be told not to come to work. Our soldiers will not get paid, however the politicians will still have them risk their lives for free. These same politicians will then go pick up their paychecks and use the tax payer's money to have expensive dinners and rent expensive cars and get free healthcare.

Who the hell decided someone should get paid for not doing their job? ....oh thats right they passed laws that fill their pockets no matter how much they suck at their jobs.

the government shut down is the equivalent to your 2 year old holding their breath till they get what they want. 

Could not have said it better. Perhaps the money to keep these services running should come out of congress and the presidents paychecks.
