Final review of the PNY GT 630 2GB

So I wanted to benchmark this card as I have had it for a month now and I have to say, it's quite a good card. I used GeForce Experience to optimize all my games, now with Skyrim I did have some mods on, no high res texture packs but just some smaller things to not have nothing to do :D

Now I used Fraps to get all the benchmarks so these are raw copy pastes of the FPS from the games.

Here is a link to all the settings I used in game and also to the enabled mods I have for skyrim.

To sum this up, for the $40 after MIR I spent on the card, it's pretty good it overclocks well and stays under 54 degrees while in games.
I have the card running at 930MHZ on the core and 650 on the memory this is up from what it came with at stock at 810MHZ on the core and 535 on the memory. so it's a good OC and it doesn't even get hot (I could take it higher but I start to see artifacts in games anything over 950 and 690)

So to sum it up, if you need a GPU and want to game and medium to low settings then this is the card for you! It's not to much money, it's half decent, and it has cuda for video editing!

Left out the screen shot to skyrims settings.

550TI was dieing, and I got the H220 to watercool my CPU and my GTX 590 but I had to sell my 590 to pay for a phone bill :P

You've wasted money on a total piece of crap. GT 630 is probably slower than 9600GT I have.

Never get any GPU that has DDR3 memory, total crap.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Doesn't seem as if it's crap, it plays anything I want it to play at settings I don't mind, also it's faster than a 9600GT, i know cause I owned two of them and a 9800GTX and I can still get better FPS in games than both of them.

also the difference in performance between DDR3 and GDDR5 is less than 5% in games, it's only REALLY noticeable in stuff like 3D mark.

how do you have a 750gb hdd and a 500gb hdd in raid 0? or do you have two of each? if that's the case you should change your sig, its confusing. Also why didn't you get the Zotac version of the 630, it's clocked higher.

Well i dont want to lose time to explain how wrong you are so long story short:

What if I told you the GPU uses vRAM all the time and if it's too slow, you are getting diminishing results? Which is why between 7750 GDDR5 vs 7750 DDR3 there is a world of difference in each benchmark?

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Compared to the reference DDR3 Card, it should offer exactly the same performance at lower resolutions. Despite being equipped with fast GDDR5, this Graphics Card will not perform very well at anything higher than 1440x900.

They will do the exact same but the GDDR5 one was more money at $60 with no MIR compared to $50 with a $10 MIR the DDR3 one has 2GB or Vram so it will be better for the 2560x1440 display I got off a friend to run as a secondary. Your point is somewhat invalid without doing your research.

my msi 630 could overclock like a beast. it could get 30 fps on far cry 3 at 1680x1050. its quite good for a 50 dollar card

Yes because it's crap and not a good GPU like Radeon 7750. NVidia's low-end GPUs are crap.

Yes that's why I recommend you should get GT 640 4GB DDR3, that GPU runs 4k display without breaking a sweat!

how can you mismatch HDD's but I can't put the 2TB and 400GB barracuda's I have in RAID 0 hmm? I call shenanigans

It's true they are surprising, a lot of people here have a downer on them but they are leaps and bounds ahead of any iGPU (at least  on the intel side) plus I think it's better to have at least some form of DGPU even if it isn't very good. I'm contemplating speccing out a low end system just to see what it's capable of.

yeah haswell  igpu is way better then its predacessor but my god was I desperate for a gpu for a while .

in anycase people will take what linus says as fact, and usually i do to but there are instances where he is stating an opinion and not a fact
