Final review of the PNY GT 630 2GB

how can you mismatch HDD's but I can't put the 2TB and 400GB barracuda's I have in RAID 0 hmm? I call shenanigans

I don't get the full 500+750GB I get 750Gb+250GB it takes away more than it gives that's why I did it just for performance.

yeah haswell  igpu is way better then its predacessor but my god was I desperate for a gpu for a while .

in anycase people will take what linus says as fact, and usually i do to but there are instances where he is stating an opinion and not a fact

It's better to save money and buy a higher end one in most cases, if you can wait save up and buy a better one but I didn't have time for that, my 550TI was pretty much dead, it was running passive pretty much at such a low clock it wasn't even usable. so i got this and it works well enough for now till the R7 series comes out and prices on 7850's and 7870's get lower and i'll just get one of those.

That's not what I'm saying, I CANNOT match up my two barracuda's in RAID 0 so how can you even make an array with those two drives?

I wouldn't call the GT630 a crap card, it's decent in my opinion, but far from being seen as a gaming card. BTW, if someone is negative about your 'review', doesn't mean he's wrong to voice his opinion. As they say, if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Yes, it is capable of playing games, most lower end discrete cards can do that, and is meant for gamers on a budget, or for those who do not care about eye candy and max setting @1080p at the very least. The GeForce experience is utter crap, even with my 2x GTX670 SLi'ed, it lowered many of the ingame settings for a smooth gaming experience, I don't need a program that tones down everything, just to be on the safe side, so that games run smoother. I tried the GeForce Experience on the GTX670's and LOL'ed at what it did. Uninstalled it and forgot all about it, it deliberately lowers everything even though my cards are more than capable of maxing out the games I'd tried with it.

Same with my 660 Ti's it turned down the AA&AF on Skyrim for me when I was maxing it on my laptop.

True, I used geforce experience because it shows best results for on a straight start with most games, CS:GO and arma 2 are the ones I prefer to use it with since it does give me the best performance.

I have a similar card, a PNY GT620. And I must say, it overclocks like a beast. Goes from the stock 600MHz to 1GHz. Do you have the same experience?

I replaced a GT 610 with an EVGA GT 640 2GB in my friends PC, it went from 901Mhz to 1280Mhz, I tested it for two days and it was rock solid.

What a surprise that Dravic barges into a thread and acts like a complete ass. Seriously why hasn't that douche been kicked from the forums yet?

Every thread man, every single one.

That's not what I'm saying, I CANNOT match up my two barracuda's in RAID 0 so how can you even make an array with those two drives?

Get a different motherboard that supports RAID 0 JBOD

I am good at computer

Check my sig, Sabertooth Z77, I've had two different RAID arrays on this motherboard before

I didn't have a GTX 650 on hand to test it against, I only had a GT 555M in my laptop, the GT 610 it replaced and the GTX 660 Ti's in my own rig. Although I did run some test's out of curiosity, the GT 640 is already faster than the GT 555M but after the OC it completely smoked it which is annoying considering that I paid 2k for that laptop, obviously it was faster than the 610 and my 660 Ti's smoked it. Overall it was surprising and made me realize that all the shit low end GPU's get isn't really warranted, after all they may not be that powerful but they're a hell of a lot better then integrated.

You've wasted money on a total piece of crap. GT 630 is probably slower than 9600GT I have.

Never get any GPU that has DDR3 memory, total crap.

the 630 supports DX 11 the 9600 does not, the card is cheap, if you have trouble spending that little cash for minimal gaming you're out of luck.

The 640 performs on par with the GTS 450. I've tested it with my friends rigs and yea the difference is minuscule and to be frank the 640 is cheap as hell. my friend with another friends 640 is gaming on a CRT monitor at 1024 x 768 so he maxes out anything lol, but seriously when it was used in the previous owners rig he was gaming at 1600 x 800 maxed out on everything with FPS still a bit higher than consoles, so I agree the trash they get is uncalled for.

You have an h220 and a gt 630???... Why?

because chances are hes trying to cool his cpu not his graphics card.

people slag off my HD6670 just the same, just because you have a low end card doesn't means its rubbish and more than having a ford focus....just because its not top end, doesn't mean its crap, it comes down to the application.

I have a 9600gt and ti cant even load crysis because it lacks dx11 (though the fact that shops still charge upto £50 for the 610 alongside the cheaper (£35) 210 next to it is criminal, what you gonna do... enjoy a dx11 slideshow?

ignore dravic hes a troll (every forum has 1).

I have a belief that as the price of cards go up the bang for buck goes down BUT there is a minimum level of detail/fps/resolution for everyone.

1680x1050 and playing skyrim on medium, at 50ish fps and on a buget, a 9600gt/6670 is fine?

720p (hell 1080p) just playing minecraft and indie games....gt210 (second hand of course)

1366x768 (the average new to pc person) playing gta4 and so on id say the entry level is the 7770, can be stretched to 1080p depending on what fps you like.

for me i want medium with 4xmsaa (or atleast some form) @1080p with 45-60fps...so i think the 7850 is sweet, it compares and sometimes beats the 6970...how many people idolized that card?

720p (hell 1080p) just playing minecraft and indie games....gt210 (second hand of course)

1366x768 (the average new to pc person) playing gta4 and so on id say the entry level is the 7770, can be stretched to 1080p depending on what fps you like.

for me i want medium with 4xmsaa (or atleast some form) @1080p with 45-60fps...so i think the 7850 is sweet, it compares and sometimes beats the 6970...how many people idolized that card?

It's a great card for what i need it to do and to hold me over till R7/R9 comes out.

I replaced a GT 610 with an EVGA GT 640 2GB in my friends PC, it went from 901Mhz to 1280Mhz, I tested it for two days and it was rock solid.

I have my GT 520 overclocked from stock 500MHz to 1.01GHz on stock voltage.

I wonder how far I could push that GT 610 I have lying around....too bad I don't have a spare PC to test that with.

You can do it in your main rig, just plug your monitor in and have fun with EVGA Precision

Just because you said that I decided to overclock it more and now it's stable at 1.6GHz lol
