Broadwell-E finally released....

Hey, guys, I was browsing on PCPartPicker and I found out that the new chips (6800K, 6850K, 6900K, 6950X) are finally released. I was long anticipating this moment. Or maybe they got released earlier when I didn't notice? Either way, I'm stoked! I was thinking about putting my 5820K to rest and getting one of the new chips. What chip should I get? Should I even upgrade at all? Ha! Ha! I'm all tied up. Any answers or replies would help me!

My wallet already exploded when I built Arctica 2.0 for the first time (about $4000 lol). I got more money overtime and now I have enough to build 2 more Arctica 2.0s. Now show me what your suggestion is....

I doubt you'd benefit that much.

I thought the pricing was actually pretty decent, except of course for that top tier CPU...but then, that one's always been for people lacking a ton of computer knowledge and seeking the biggest epeen anyway.

I do game as much as I video edit and render (so 33.3% all the way lol). That way, I can keep balanced activity for my PC.

Yes, but you don't only game. Which is the point I was trying to make Too often users on here assume the PC is just being used for gaming and nothing else.

Anyway, I don't think you'd really benefit from upgrading the CPU. Unless you get someone to give you a decent amount for the one you already have. In that case, I'd just go for it.

Do you know if your motherboard will work? I imagine they'd need a BIOS update or something.

The last WanShow from LTT, showed a few screenshots of Broadwell-E and the lower end 6-core equivalent to 5820K (now named 6800K) was pumping 1.2 Volts or an absurd 3.5Ghz boost. Don't know if it's the motherboard bios firmware or whatever, but at this stock clock-volts they dont look too sexy. 

Silicon lotery is there too, so you may end up having a "new" cpu which cant OC Has-well as your 5820k (pun intended :P)

If you do a lot of HVEC rendering, then it might be worth it to step up to the i7-6850k just for the new instruction sets (although with I believe in a good workflow, the 1080 should be doing most of the encoding and it is HVEC optimized, but I'm trying to help you out here). You also get 40 PCIe lanes, which is nice. but right now they are at more than $100 above MSRP, which seems a bit steep.

I still haven't learned all the new skews, and I probably won't, because otherwise I might get the itch... And I'm quite happy with the i7-5820k. Also I just looked at prices and holy crap Intel what gives

I went 5820k not too long ago after hearing that Broadwell E will be released to the same socket, but not for an immediate upgrade now, but in a year or two when they are EoL and prices go down on 8-10 core ones.

With Skylake-E, that might be next year... I'm holding off on the mobo and CPU for my build based on the next gen's 6 core CPU
