Mousepad (preferred input from people who play competitive shooters or mobas)

So I was looking through Amazon, etc, for a new mouse pad and I find out there are mousepads for control and mousepads for speed. Is there substance behind this or is this just marketing? Is there actually a preferred type of mouse pad for shooters and mobas?

This is pretty much one of the best imo, although they are not exactly as import as the mouse you are using.

 

There are plenty of versions to choose so do a youtube search on them to see the difference.

 

I use the Razer Deathadder Chroma along with the 4HD version of that pad on a 165hz screen on CSGO. It is pretty epic :)

Are there any viable generic options? I don't know what it is but I feel silly paying so much for a mouse pad. If there isn't a generic option then I don't mind, but I'd like to know my options.

well you are paying for the branding but I'm sure almost all cloth mousepads would be fine :)

Well, I play CSGO/Dota without any issues on a mousepad I got from Artscow.com for $0.99. 

 

So....yes, I'm sure that's fine.
