Mid range fps gaming headset with 7.1?

I want to start using a headset with 7.1, because it will improve my gaming experience and my budget is 70-100€. Some friends suggested me the Logitech G430 and the HyperX Cloud II. Linus's unboxing of the G430 made me want to buy them, but that video was uploaded like 3 years ago. I shouldn't forget to mention that he also made a video about the HyperX Cloud saying that this headset doesn't suck.

I would love to have your opinion about which headset should I purchase. (Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Greece)

I have the Cloud IIs myself and i can recommend! definetly worth the price! Only downside is that theres no software for customization of the sound quality but its pretty good already so i dont mind.

TBH I have to recommend going for a pair of stereo headphones and using something like dolby surround

7.1 is horrible for FPS

I disagree, 7.1 virtual surround is useful on many FPS games, but 7.1 gaming headsets - meh, just for lazy people that want plug and play style surround with no hassle.

If you play competitive first person shooters 7.1 is bad for hearing for footsteps or directional hearing for whatever your doing.

This so called "Edge" isn't much of just a way of marketing

Nor am I saying oh 7.1 is a horrible invention no one is should use it, No imsaying its bad for First person shooters, but if  you love it so much go ahead, i dont judge.

LOL they know shit about audio, I have been in that environment for some few years and they are so stupid when it comes to audio. Good open headphones will basicly be a lvl 1000000 boss and the shitty 7.1 is a lvl 1 player.. Who will win that?

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE don't fall into the "SURROUND 7.1" trap!

7.1 headsets are a gimmick and don't enhance directional audio at all. They sound worse than standard stereo headsets. It's better to have 1 big nice driver in each ear cup than 5 small terrible ones. The drivers are too close to your ear to give you that "7.1" experience.

Basically, Don't get "7.1" or "5.1" etc... surround headphones. They are gimmicks and pure marketing BS.

If you need proof that stereo headphones can provide great positional audio, get a pair of nice open-back headphones with good soundstage (eg. Beyerdynamic DT990) and search YouTube for "Headphone Test - Luigi".

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

That is recored with 2 microphones, unlike games. But I agree on the fact that "true surround headsets" with several drivers in them sound awful. Virtual surround on the other hand isnt always that bad. I have the razer kraken 7.1 chromas, they are kind of open back, not fully and they sound good. The good thing about them is that I can change them between 2.0 and 7.1, so when I listen to music I always use them as only 2 drivers for optimal audio quality and when I game I use 7.1.

They are far from open, that mesh is just for looks and you know why you can change between 2.0 and 7.1 is because they are stereo headphones. "sound good" kek
