AMD is completely lost if they go down this road, they did this with CPU's long ago, they started to compare against previous gen intel core processors look where they are now 4 generations behind, and now with GPU's.

If this costs more than 200$ they better not release it at all.

there are no current gen cards from Nvidia so what can they really do... Nvidia would do the same thing.

I dont know how much you guys follow tech news, but AMD are making two new architectures one for Vega and one for Polaris, because that way they can make the chip perfect for the use case.

first of all Vega will have HBM2 - so at the very minimum they would have to change the architecture to update the memory controller

Polaris, Vega, Navi - those are all code names for different architectures:

that looks like a 3D mockup, but allegedly yes it is a reference design that is designed and manufactured by Sapphire

But this seems like a strange move. It means nVidia has a 6 month long head start with the 1080 before Vega 10 arrives, if Vega 10 releases in October.

You do realise that the best selling price point the RX 480

Polaris and Vega are gcn 4. It's the same damn architecture. Tonga and Fiji have different names but they're both gcn 3.
