Intel i5 6500 VS 6600k

Can't really decide on what cpu to get for my build.

In my country (Holland) The 6500 costs about €200,-

And the 6600k costs about €260,-

Do you guys think the slight performance increase is worth the extra expense?

I'll probably also have to get a better fan for it if I wanna OC it right? So it would be about €100 more I think?

I'm gonna use it for gaming. And i've heard a beefy gpu is more important than a great cpu when it comes to gaming in general.

What do you guys think? is paying 50% more worth it to maybe get a 5-10% improvement?

6500 is enough

you would need to buy a better cooler if you want to OC the 6600k

Thanks for the swift reply! :) I'm on a relatively tight budget so i'm glad to hear that i can get away with using the 6500.

its a great CPU :)

with a tight budget, spending an extra $100 on a better GPU would give far more fps than spending $100 for an overclocked 6600k

so yeah, save your money

You would need to buy a cooler period with the 6600k, not just a better one, as it doesn't come with a stock cooler.

Well if you want to overclock the 6600K is a great option but otherwise the 6500 is more then enough for gaming

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
