analog is ugly ???

laserdisk > DVD

Vinyl > everything

used VGA for many years

they key is a good quality cable

but why does AMD block this

its almost free to add support to VGA

If your grave doesn't say "rest in peace" on it You are automatically drafted into the skeleton war.

VGA is the way to go if you have have a non professional analog display. If you have a professional one there are better options than VGA. And if you have a digital display use a digital connection please.

Doesn't matter if you say its good or its almost free to implement its still an ancient standard and it needs to go the only reason VGA is still around if for people who refuse to upgrade like they shoudl and for businesses who use analog projectors.

if your worried about a VGA projector a active DP to VGA adapter can handle that easily

  • 3 months later...

Why would anyone want to downgrade to lame HDMI 1080p@60hz or LCD from 2048x1536 @ 85hz CRT...

LCD screens have terrible blocky displays.

To get a higher resolution than my CRT I'd have to settle for a 60hz/fps maximum.

Native resolution? Lame

4K is ok for 2D work, otherwise 100% useless.

Maybe some of you guys had a 1024x768 60hz crt all those years ago and dont know any better.

If you have ever seen an old 16 bit system on an old CRT TV you know it looks better on that than on a 1080p TV, Translate that to my 2048x1536 CRT monitor running Crysis 3 in 2048x1536 resolution, You'd need a 4K resolution to match it but oh wait! 4K is useless for anything moving.

Anyone with a decent monitor should buy NVidia, 780ti has DVI-I (VGA COMPATIBLE)

Oops posted and THEN realized its so old...

Some of you guys are just plain assholes.

He'd be happy as fuck saving for his beast, then comes on here and gets flamed not for the card itself, but the fact he has a monitor thats not up to YOUR standard of normal.

Be happy for the guy, he worked his ass off for the dosh, wasnt given it...

Good luck on whatever you decide, ignore the nazi's.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Oh noes VGA everyone will die!!!! In all seriousness this VGA flame is stupid. If you ever go to do a presentation using a built in projector VGA is probably going to be the only input. Many people have older monitors hooked up as secondaries which only have VGA. Yes it is not ideal, but the level of ignorance here is laughable.
