Is there any reason there should be exclusives between VR headsets?

Honestly it is only about wanting to lock you into or out of their "environment" it can't be because of resolution or refresh rate because there are literally thousands of monitors out there that vary quite a bit in both of those categories.

 

They want to be able to say "well you should have boughten a Rift" when the next big title drops for it.

 

I find that kind of behaviour to be abhorrent, especially in the PC realm, how would everyone react if a AAA title dropped but it was only able to be played on an Nvidia GPU?
