Finished my first build the other night and didn't break anything!

Not the best looking rig, but it definitely fits my needs.  Going to be used for editing and some gaming.  I am planning on adding another 760 when/if the prices go down.  The processor is running SUPER cool, even when stressed, which is a huge relief...(I thought it would be a bit hotter with the small noctua.)  Anyways...super stoked and thought I would share.  :D

Parts:

CPU - Intel i7 4770k

CPU cooler - Noctua UB9 SE2

GPU - EVGA GTX 760 superclocked w/ ACX cooler

MOBO - ASUS Maximus VI Gene

Memory - 16GB (2X8) Corsair Vengence LP 1600

SSD - Samsung 840 pro 128GB

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB

PSU - Corsair HX850

ODD - The cheap ASUS one...

Case - Corsair Obsidian 350D (window version)

Looks really good. Congrats on your first build! Hope you'll get to enjoy it without any problems for a while.

Thanks!

Looks sharp. Couldn't use a 120mm cooler though?

mother of god nvm what is that monstrosity plaguing the front panel?

LOL YEAH WTH my eyes T,T

Pft...

needs work on the cable management, but I cut you slack because first build

other than that, nice job dude

Thanks.  I will have to rip into some cable management this week.

remove that optical drive before i cry. plz.

No.

Nice build. Start overclocking yet?

Thanks.  I'm running a conservative OC at the moment.  Ran IntelBurnTest and Aida64 stress test a few times and it seemed to float in the 38c to 45c range, which is awesome, right?.

Here is what it's OC'ed at for now:

I wouldn't exactly ignore the people talking about the Optical bays. I removed mine after OS install, and it just sits in the cupboard for whenever I need to do a fresh OS install on a machine. Unless you truly have a use for it (which I would love to know. Most reasons I can think of that are actually warranted are if you use your PC to watch DVD's / Blu-Rays a lot).

Very nice build!

PS: Since I also use this exact same case and I also want to have an optical drive, I decided to put my internal one in an external enclosure so that the sleek front look of the case is not compromised by it.

I use ODD's to burn data for clients. Why is it suggested I remove it?

Looks, primarily.

You should stealth your optical drive.  Other than that, awesome job :).

If you really need the optical drive (and it seems you do), then this

is definitely a suggestion I recommend looking into. It's usually not

a difficult mod to do and the results can be very rewarding. Ask if

you need help, but I recommend googling "stealth drive mod" or something

like that.

Generally a very nice build though IMHO, especially for a first effort. :)
