What is the oldest Keyboard anyone uses? Can you beat mine?

I have a PS2 HP keyboard C1405B.

Membrane, but looks and sound mechanical. (Feels good to)

 

Anyway, I think it's from 1990, so that would make it 26! (Older than me by a big amount)

 

Only complaint is no-window keys. Other than that I'd say it was perfect.

 

So anyone got a keyboard over 26 and use it daily?

I have an Apple Extended Keyboard II, sadly I do not have the Griffin iMate I need to get it up and running.

It feels really nice, it has ALP Cream switches and it very nice. It is compared with the IBM Model M (Even though the Model M smashes it in everything)

Hmm.... Noticed ur also using a Core 2 Duo, mine is very simular, E6850. Similar in that it's crap now. Still, my PC is fast as hell even with DDR2 at work stuff. Proof that an old PC can be faster than many new ones if cared for....

I have a vintage Alps with trackpad that hasn't been used, need to find an ADB adaptor someday. The keys feel great. Trackpad is small by current standards.

I use a 1994 apple adjustable keyboard, but also have a 1984 ibm model m.

Oldest I have is a Microsoft Natural Elite from 1998 (only two years older than me lol). Same as OP, it isn't mech but it still feels very good. I use it mainly so my parents don't break down my door when I game at night (MX Blues on my main KB).

I use MX Blues normally, which I've been told can be heard from across the house. The MS keyboard is a membrane board so it's much quieter and I can actually get away with gaming until 3:00 AM lol.

See? Windows keys are completely over-rated. That is actually the keyboard I type this on. And if given a choice, I'd take my own over any other keyboard. (Typed 'keyboat' before, that's a funny idea!)

 

BTW: An old peice of paper folded with a bit of tape is a great way to store CDs. Currently doing a backup, only have a few GBs of stuff I need.

Just for shits and gigs, I made a video comparing the two. I'll post a link to it when it finishes uploading if you really care.

I did clean it really well. Numlock fell in the pond though. (A torch really illuminates this stuff - Let's see that happen with a fancy black keyboard!) My mouse is yellowed too, so they so together well! I'll have to try oxiclean to whiten it sometime.... 

 

Keeping my PC clean for me is not really a drag either, maybe I have OCD. (Been using this mouse for ages, it's pretty clean too! Genarally my whole PC is, no viruses or stuff, So for non gaming it is very zippy (especially for no SSD) despite a Core 2 Duo and DDR2.

Have you head of RetroBrite? I'm not sure if I spelled that right, but it's a compound you can make with stuff around the house to, at least temporarily, turn yellowed plastic white again.

Ah, I didn't know that's what you were referring to. I've watched a couple 8BitGuy vids, and I agree, they're damn good. I first heard about retr0bright on /r/mechanicalkeyboards though.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

USB 1.1 connection (I actually use the hub) and although I have not had any problems with the keyboard itself, I'm interested in what this mechanical keyboard buzz is all about. Plus this thing is huge (takes up half my open desk space) and has 18 more programmable keys than I actually use (never found a good reason to use them). I'll keep using it for my media/NAS/living room build.

 

I'm thinking about something like the G810 but since when did they stop adding wrist rests?? I hate using ones that aren't connected since they always shift and never line up right.

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
