so what? I just got a gtx970. I'm happy too. a few weeks the 1070 will be out......... I don't care. I got a 380. runs everything fine. Don't need anything bigger.

With an i3-4170, i'd say the GTX 960 would've been the better option.

 

Oh well. Enjoy it anyway, and from a 240 it will be better regardless.

It's better on a i3-4130, worse on a i7-6700K.

 

 

 

That's the problem with GPU benchmarks. They all test with Overkill CPU's. Which is nice for testing raw performance, but it kinda obfuscates some issues.

It's all about driver overhead, your i3 would do better with Nvidia. Most of the time that is. And for 250us you could have got a used 970.

You're going to care in 6 months when developers are taking advantage of the extra performance of the new architectures. In a few months the consoles will have more compute power than you. My advise is cancel or return. Ether wait for Polaris 10 or buy a used card that has a chance to hang with the new ones.

Toxic? You just wasted your money, we're trying to help you. In 6 months you'll be struggling to maintain 60fps with medium settings in games being launched. If you weren't being a smart ass and you are actually 12, you haven't seen what happens after a new architecture change. Any you have the added concern of the new consoles that will hit after October sporting Polaris 10 architecture. A PS4K will be able to run games better than you 380x, which has been out performed by a 280x recently.

It's not faith, it's experience. AMD has aged well because they haven't changed their architecture in years, but Polaris will change that. Do what you want but this is a very well documented and understood cycle.

For $256 US you could have gotten a new GTX 970 with the 10% off code newegg was sending people on its mailing list (offer is expired now though).
