Is it better to get an i5 6600k/gtx 1080 or an i7 5820k/gtx 1070. Im gonna be gaming only and i'm probably going to keep this build for about 5 years. Please help

If this is purly gaming I would recommend the 6600k and whatever GPU

6600K/1080. Gaming is more about the GPU than the CPU for the most part, and a 6600K can handle anything you throw at it.

Yea its all bull shit (marketing ploy), don't believe what they say, just wait till actual benchmarks made by youtubers/reviewers

That is up to you.  if you'll always be wondering that, then yes spend the extra up front.  else you'll end up with 2 CPUs like me. ;-)

the 980 ti will drop in price either way so

6600k for sure if its only gaming. x99 can actually even lower your gaming performance.

it will technically last until it died if you keep playing the same game so... yea

if you're looking to play all the latest AAA titles for a couple years, 5 years shouldnt be much of a problem for this cpu

 

seeing how the 2500K can still last so long even though its a 2011 cpu, though it's starting to show it's age now lol
