H80i GT suddenly acting up.

So the cooler has been working just fine for a while but yesterday I started up my PC and noticed my temps were high so I checked the link software and noticed it said the pump was not running on my H80i GT (led and fans still worked normally). I restarted my PC and now the fans run at 100%, the LED is dead, and I can't find the cooler anywhere on my PC (pump seems to be working though since temps are back to normal). Link doesn't see it, I can't find it in device manager or any other software (like AIDA 64), I have tried different USB headers, a different cable to an external USB port, and even connecting it to another computer and nothing ever finds the cooler. My H110i GTX still works just fine and can be found by Link but not the H80i GT. I have tried all the suggestions I could find on the Corsair forums (except updating the firmware since none on my computers can find the cooler at all).

It's strange that the fans still work (sound like an airplane at 100% though) but nothing can find the USB connection and the LED is dead.

Any ideas?

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

the corsair software is buggy at best. But if its still under warranty i would RMA it just to be safe

It's not just the software, no computer can even see the USB device connected at all. Not even a generic device (only sees all my other USB devices and my H110i GTX connected). The cooler and software worked just fine for almost a year.

 

I guess it's probably an RMA, I was just hoping someone knew an obvious fix that I failed to realize. I already submitted a ticket to Corsair and am waiting for a reply. It sucks though because if I have to return it my PC is out of commission until I get a replacement... any idea what their turnover time is?

it sounds like theirs an issue with the connector on the pump so RMAing it is likely the best choice

Fans and pumps are just dumb motors. Apply voltage to it and it'll spin. The same goes for the LED. USB on the other hand takes more. I'm personally not at all surprised that this is how it's acting.

I had the same issue with mine when I did a firmware update. It's bricked. You have to rma it or run it by using the motherboard to control the fans.

I thought so, too bad:( I wonder if Corsair would send me the replacement before having me return the old one so I can keep using my PC during that time.
