I wanted to upgrade for a while and now I got a job. I saw the new graphics cards and I think I chose the perfect time. I have a 550 psu, is that good enough for a 1070?

As long as it's a *good* 550w PSU, almost certainly!

Wait a little longer and see what AMD has for you. Polaris 10 could be a much better deal than the 1070 that still uses DDR5. AND a SLI bridge...

how power efficient is the 1080 supposed to be? or do we not know yet? Because In a video I saw it only using one 8 pin power connector

If the 1080 is worth the price increase when benchmarks come out I would get the 1080
