Zip tie a Hyper 212 Evo

So... (Very) long story short. I have a non standard HP motherboard with a core I5 2320 and a horrible cooler. I got my hands on a hyper 212 evo just to realize there is a non removable backplate on my motherboard... Is it somewhat safe to zip tie my cooler for 2-3 months before I get my new computer? If so how could I do it?

Y u no work computer?

short answer is prolly yes.

it really depends but if you try something like this ...

you really just want to make sure that its seated well and making good contact.

CPUIntel i5-6600k - Mobo - MSI Z170A M3 Gaming - RAM - 16GB G.SKILL DDR4 2133 -  GPU - MSI R9 380 4GB

You gave a really bad example. Zip tying a light weight water block is not nearly as daunting as ziptying a full sized CPU cooler that is like 10x the weight or more. Not to mention the block has a uniform circle shape while the 212 Evo is a square.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

it wasnt straight instructions just an idea of how it can be done.

sure the cpu cooler is 10x the weight but the mobo is also bigger than the GPU PCB, and has a backplate .

True. Zip ties are still pretty darn strong. I personally wouldn't do it and go with a lighter cooler which should perform well since it sounds like a lower powered pc.

I have zip ties holding my rad and 2fans to the back of a dell sever tower case I modded to for my 8350 . works fine .

But agreed of it's a go manu mono it's prolly nothing that needs a 212 evo

Not to get sidetracked pictures would help is asess the do-ability of attaching the cooler

well, it can, if it's a concave mounting surface, would theoretically make it worse if convex.

for mounting lay it on its side so the cooler is sitting on the cpu instead of trying to fall off it, zip ties for mounting pressure, if bad things happen you did it wrong
