Because the Nitro on a 380x is not a nitro on a 390x. Nitro on 380x is basically a dual-x, Nitro on a 390x is basically a tri-x.

I'd suggest upgrade your CPU and go with the cheapest of those three GPUs.

Though if you can't afford to upgrade your CPU and one of the cheaper GPUs on your list.
As much as I dislike to suggest this but the GTX 960 (4GB) would probably be better with your CPU. Though I would think that the R9 380 (4GB) would be fine too but I'm not sure if the CPU would be a bottleneck or not.

If you could I'd suggest you maybe upgrade to a G3258 or a G4400 or an i3 6100, though of course that's quite a bit of an added expense and maybe Zen will save AMD from it's downfall. Though Zen FX isn't going to be AM3/AM3+,  it'll be AM4 so that would mean you'd have to get a new motherboard. Which is a good thing. At least myself, and many others would think.

FX 8350 doesn't bottleneck the 380(X) in mot games. The Pentium, however, would be a MAJOR bottleneck

Huh, I didn't notice that OP had an 8350. I thought I saw 6300...

I don't think a Devils Canyon or Skylake Pentium (G3258 or G4400) would be too huge of a bottleneck for the 380 or 380X as those cards do go well with like the Athlon X4 860 if one didn't want to pair their AMD CPU with an Nvidia GPU.

Maybe because of it being dual core.

Exactly - cause it's a dual-core it's a major bottleneck as no amount of IPC can feed modern games which make use of 8+ threads

I suppose and because i3s on Devils Canyon and Skylake have Hyperthreading (don't remember if they've always had hyperthreading, I'd suspect so). they'd act more like quad cores in terms of IPC and whatnot.

i3's have always been 2 cores 4 threads, ever since the i3 550.

All i3s are Dual-cores with HT. Some older i5s are also Dual-cores with HT. HT makes a great difference

Okay, that's what I thought. Needed some way to differentiate from the Pentium and entry level i3 I suppose.

For reference, all first-gen i5's other than the i5-750  and up were dual cores with ht, the 750 was a quad core. The i5-670 was 2 cores 4 threads.
