300CAD$ WHAT CAN I DO?

i feel like if you get either a cheap psu that is rated for much higher wattage than what you have will make ya pretty safe from it damaging anything, and anything rated 80+ or higher is safe.  In this case, for this older PC i wouldn't be very worried about the PSU since it has been functioning fine for years.  On pcpartpicker, the cheapest 700w thermaltake PSU is 80+ bronze so i'm confident to say that he does not need to replace it and that would should last him the life of the pc.

This is a misconception- some cheap PSUs aren't capable of running their labeled wattages. Coolermaster has PSUs like the 600w extreme power plus that claim to output 600w but can't actually do that without heavy ripple issues, because they are just 450w units labeled as 600w, so you aren't necessarily safe just because your psu claim to be higher wattage. Also, the 80+ certification does not prove that a PSU is good or not AT ALL. 80+ certification only shows how efficient the PSU is at converting AC power from the wall to DC power for the pc. It dosen't tell you if the capacitators are high-end japanese caps or some random chinese brand caps, or how much ripple the PSU has,so it does not prove that the psu is good just because it has the label.

Have no idea what to spend on then save it. Spend it when it's really necessary. Just because you got $300 CAD to waste on, does not mean you have to.

I've had my thermaltake PSU for almost 5 years now and haven't had any issues with it.  I don't understand why people are so concerned about PSU's now and days.  The only time i had one go bad on me was 13 years ago, and it was $20, and didn't supply enough power to the system.

The problem is that I need a minimum of 1TB on my computer and 1TB ssd are really expensive... and do you know what two r9 270x in crossfire is equal to?(for example, a GTX 970 or maybe it's more or less?

get a 120-240gb ssd and a 1tb hdd if you need the storage. don't get a 270x to crossfire, sell it for as much as you can and then use the money to help you get a better graphics card.

there is a 1TB SSD on newegg for $205 right now, but personally i'd go with better video performance before HDD performance.

From what i can tell, crossfire r9 270x's are about equal to a GTX 970, but they have less vram and use more power, so for higher than 1080p gaming the 970 will do better.
